Niche! My Struggles Taking Yoga Online
It’s not lost on me that this draft has been sitting here for 2 years while I’ve struggled to figure out what kind of teacher I should be. And every time I revisit it, I hesitate to post because it is constantly changing (which I suppose is the journey that I’m also supposed to be sharing here…). It finally hit me in the last couple of weeks: I’ve been lacking direction. But in the last couple of weeks I’ve stumbled upon my niche and it all became so clear. Suddenly my practices have a newfound purpose and I’ve never been so excited to share what I have learned so far.
Mostly, I don’t want to limit my target market, but rather teach in a way that can benefit everyone. Yoga means “to yolk” or unite, and I believe that connection is what we are all seeking but simply cannot attain through asana alone. This is what keeps students and teachers alike wandering from studio to studio instead of settling in to a consistent practice (my favorite benefit of working with videos by the way) where they are encouraged to explore and grow.
I’m writing my first course, designed to take you deeper into your body and calm your mind, maybe even find something more. It is self-paced, in fact I encourage wandering through it. How else will you find what you’re looking for?
To carry on is to grow. This feels like the most natural next step for my yoga practice and to grow my wellness business.
